Intro

The day was cool and crisp, it had rained that night, not so hard that the ground itself was muddy and sloppy but it was the sort of rain that left the world in a state of refreshment. Every thing looked and felt greener. Every thing seemed more vibrant, the colors, the smells, the feel. The grass, the trees, even the moss on the rocks seemed to be instilled with new life. A cool breeze blew across the estate making the damp air that much cooler. Grey clouds covered the sky, only allowing glimpses of sun to reach through its blanket and kiss the earth. Rain drops still clung to the leaves and needles of the great trees of the surrounding forest. In side the forest the grey clouds only added to its dark effect, every thing with in the forest was well hidden, including the flags. Apart form the damp earth and air, and wind rustling the trees the world was still and silent. Only a lonely bird from far of could be heard singing its lonesome song, echoing out to the rest of the world it seemed. It could feel as if the world itself was empty, but it was not so. Today was capture the flag day. All of the mutants who wished to play could, but the rules where only thus:
-Play fair
-To win your flag must cross the territory line into the other teams boundaries
-No killing

And so the mutants gathered around the edge of the forest, waiting to be released into their sectors, waiting for the game to begin. When the call was given all would race into the woods of their territories to discuss what the plan of action was, of course once they passed into the forest there where no refs or umpires, no time outs or pauses, it was every thing but war itself. This was mutant capture the flag.

We will wait to begin the games until every person has reported in this thread who was signed up to play, only then shall we be released into the woods. To account for yourself, post a normal post and only one until they are released into the forest. That said you have a limit of 48 hours from the time this is posted to post your first post, or else your character will be counted as 'out' Girls must post in Gold boys in Green

Charlie:

The day was crisp to say the least. Charlie knew it would be, she had stayed up all last night watching the rain hit her window. She couldn't sleep, she was being haunted again and her only solution was to keep away from its domain, which was dreams. So last night she curled up in a soft chair next to her window and watched it rain while she curled up in a blanket, knees up to her chest and arms hugging them. Her hazel eyes had watched drop after drop hit her window with a light pit pat pit pat. Her favorite sound was when it started to rain, when it went form an occasional gentle pit.....tapata....pit...tapata to pittapatapittapattapittatpatta and so on, she could listen to it for hours. When she had just came to the academy it was how she got to sleep when a storm rolled in, or if she was just having nightmares like last night. Well she didn't have them specifically last night but it was her fear of them that kept her up, silly in words but all to real an emotion at the time.

Taking a deep breath Charlie walked down a grassy area to the edge of the capture the flag forest. She loved the forest, it was peaceful and quiet and no one could find you if you simply wanted to disappear for a while. Her hair was tied up in its usual sloppy bun, a few white blond strands hung down around her face, her hair never wanted to do what it was told. She wore a light jumper and black sweatpants, typical cool weather training clothes, which Charlie found practical as well as comfortable. Her eyes where darkly shadowed and her hazel eyes looked a tad weary. It made her think of a quote from Hamlet 'I could be bound in a nut shell and count myself the king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams.' she recited to herself and it made her smile ever so slightly, it felt good to hear that line, like seeing an old friend or hearing their voice, that was what her books where to her. She had spent so much time alone with herself and her thoughts at times they where all she had.

Her feet tread softly on the dew covered grass and she could see the wet marks on her black combat boots, she was near the edge of the forest and noticed the few that where there. She was one of the first and didn't mind it. She had, of course, been up all night and was ready at 5:00, even though now it was probably 6:30. She couldn't really tell as the grey clouds blocked out the sun, and it was only light enough to know the sun had indeed risen once again. She had her hands shoved in her pockets and she quietly made it to the edge and took no notice of those around her, merely peering deep into the woods, the woods she knew so well. She gave it a weary smile and she sighed, seeing the white cloud her breath made as it hit the cool air, as tired and subdued as she looked she was really excited, she loved Capture the flag , it was her favorite (if not the only) thing she loved to do training wise with other people. She loved it because it was real, you walked in there and your team mates where the only ones you could trust, all others became your fierce enemies. Of course the rule of 'what happens in the forest stays in the forest' applied heavily here. But she loved it all the same, she turned and looked behind her to see who else was coming.

Angel tossed and turned in his sleep as his mind was haunted bya dream, one that had been haunting him for the past three years, though it was different at times... and it felt so real, it was almost as if it was actually happening.

He opened his eyes, and found himself strapped down to a table, with an IV in his arm and hands on his head. The IV drip was empty, and the straps holding him down felt loose. The hands were hardly touching his head, but he could feel them. Blinking a bit, the bluriness went, and he looked around. It looked like he was in a lab of sorts, but something about it was off... he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He knew he didn't want to be here... why else would he be strapped down to the table, if not to restrain him? Somehow, he could feel the telepath in his head. And that was something he didn't want. He shut his eyes and stopped moving, just in case the telepath got suspicious, then focused on air. He got a mental grip on it and shoved it all in the direction of the telepath behind him. He felt his hair sweep back as the air went past him, and the hands left his head as he heard a stool crash onto the concrete floor of the lab.

He sat up, the straps not giving much resistance and got to his feet. He took a second to get his bearings, then punched the telepath in the face.

'Stay out of my head.' He growled at him, then turned and ran. He didn't know where he was running to, he just knew that he had to get out of here. He ran through door after door, down corridors that seemed to look the same. He couldn't tell if he was going in circles. As he ran past one of the rooms, he caught a look at himself in the window, his reflection shocking him.

There Angel stood, his wings dirty, himself looking not so different. His hair was a massive mess, his skin was pale as paper, and he was badly thin... unhealthily so. What had happened to make him look like this? He heard shouts and a door open, so he took off running again. He had to get out of here. He just had to.

He ran to the door ahead and burst through it, only to feel a stabbing sensation in his neck. Hestarted to feel dizzy, like sleep was coming on. As he fell, he turned to see who had stabbed him. It was a man, about the same height as him. But he couldn't see the man's face, as his head was been silhouetted by the light above him. He felt darkness creep up on him and the last thing he heard before he lost consciousness was the man.

"You're not getting out of here that easy, son." He said.

Angel woke up in bed, a cold sweat on him as he panted. What the hell had that been? That was unlike any normal dream...

Shaking his head, he looked at the clock next to his bed. The time was 5.23... really early in the morning. Then again, it would be after 10am in England. Maybe he'd have woken up sometime soon anyways, but instead of some freaky nightmare been the cause, it would be jet lag. Either way, Angel new he wouldn't be getting any more sleep. He was awake and that was that. He might as well get ready for the day. Besides, today was capture the flag, so he'd have to be up early anyway. He got up and got himsef a quick shower, not bothering to use a towel to dfry himself off. After all, fire did the job quicker. He put his clothes on and ran his fingers through his hair, then went to the mirror to see how he looked. He looked same as always, apart from the fact that he was wearing clean clothes. He was wearing a black t-shirt with sweatpants and black combat boots. The t-shirt came with slits in, so Angel had his wings out already. The only difference in his looks were the bags under his eyes that showed he'd had a rubbish night's sleep.

Bloody nightmares... He thought as he walked up to his window. He opened it so it was fully open, then took a deep breath and stood on the window sill. He leaned forwards and let himself fall, spreading his wings as he did so, and glided. He flapped a couple of times to get some height, then flew over to the group of people just outside the woods. He touched down next to them, ready for the game to begin. It seemed like it was going to be fun.

PostSubject: Re: Capture the flag, episode 1   Capture the flag, episode 1 I_icon_minitimeSun Jul 03, 2011 8:37 pm

The rain was nice. Sorin loved rain, despite his sunnyness he really did love the aftermath. Every thing looked so much more...so! Granted, on capture the flag day he would have liked to have the sun as a direct resource but he could work with out it for now. As far as the night had been, it had been unsettling. He hadn't felt tired. He didn't feel tired now either, which was off. Sorin liked to think of himself as a "normal" sleeper. He wasn't an insomniac, he never sleepwalked, he hadn't ever thought sleep as an issue. But now, he just wasn't sleeping. He knew if he spent lots of time in the sun it sort of served as a battery charger and he would get excited and full of energy, but there where clouds all day yesterday. Rain usually made him feel drowsy be it form lack of sun, but he wasn't. He was alert and ready, it was starting to scare him.

He shook off the thoughts and tried to think of the game. He had never played before, not regular or mutant. He understood the concept quite well but he feared he wouldn't be a great asset as far as strategy. He had read Sun tsu's art of war many times, as well as Julius Caesar's reports on war and many others. He had studied them per his father request and was sure he could recite them form memory...but this wasn't phalanx war, this was Robin Hood style battle, no lines, all hidden. It was about quiet foot fall and seeing your enemy before they saw you. Sneaking and retrieving, fast and limber movements, watchful eyes and steady hands. It intrigued him.

He walked to they edge of the woods where they where told to meet. He saw Charlie, and Angel who flew in (classy entrance) and he moved to join them. His clothing, black pants, combat boots and a tee-shirt. He was thermoregulating so a jacket was not needed. His amber eyes looked at the field around him and at the woods in front of him, safe to say he was excited.

On account of getting hardly any sleep on the long flight, Aiden was awfully tired. The aeroplane landed at around 8:00 New York time which was fairly late in London and all the events of the previous day kept him awake. And it also didn’t help that it was raining. Aiden liked the sound and smell of rain and all. In fact, it reminded him of home, but it didn’t help in letting him catch up on sleep. He tossed and turned for hours before waking up just as the very first beams of light infiltrated the campus. In London, it wasn’t that early at all and Aiden was quickly growing fond of the time zone. ((Hint the sarcasm.)) As he began to drag himself out of bed and grab food etc. he quickly remembered one of the reasons why he had gotten so little sleep the previous night. The more and more he thought about how Vader lost her memory, the more he grew certain that he could have prevented it therefore making it his fault. He had taken the blows from one of the men that had changed the pair for Vader. When he knew that he was leaving and that Vader would die if she was left there, he did what he could and learned that he could take her with him. After having tried to travel a small child away from danger, he realized that he had killed her in the effort. She was a normal mortal child and something told Aiden that Vader’s powers were the only thing that saved his friend. When they arrived on the doorstep, he felt that if he had only stayed there for a little longer, he could have taken her to a proper doctor right away and she would have been healed. If not healed, she would have at least had him and he could explain what happened. Instead she was forced to live in fear. Even taken to a mental institute. She didn’t even have anyone …like her to talk to. Because of him, her life had been ruined and he couldn’t do anything about it.
Now, he was coming here and everyone was telling him that he was given a gift even if the people who had experimented on him meant for it to be used as evil. But he knew better, it was no gift – it was a bloody curse.

Aiden had heard about the capture the flag game and he decided that maybe he could play. Even though he would be one of the worst failures on the team, he could at least meet some people and hopefully not make a complete fool of himself. He still had quite a bit of time before the game and he tried to get a bit more rest before it. He closed his eyes and quickly realized that dozing off by iPod induced sleep wasn’t as hard it he originally thought it would have been.

Upon waking up, he quickly hustled out the door of the dorm and made his way to the woods. He wasn’t exactly sure where the CTF game would be besides the vague description of ‘the CTF woods.’ However, he noticed a trickle of people heading in the general directions of a large mass of trees which is commonly known as ‘woods’. And one of these people was carrying two large flags – commonly used in ‘capture the flag.’ Using his deductive reasoning, Aiden assumed that going in that same general direction would be his best bet. The air was still groggy from last night’s rain, but the fog was slowly lifting. Once he made it to a growing group at the edge of the woods, he stood awkwardly at the edge of the people and felt ashamed at the dismal amount of people that he knew. He recognized a few from Vader’s future but he didn’t know any of their names. He briefly waved at Charlie but other than that, he mainly kept to himself.

PostSubject: Re: Capture the flag, episode 1   Capture the flag, episode 1 I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 04, 2011 12:14 am

During rainy days, there’s always someone who rejoices. Lex Darcy, the world’s most anti-warmth person, loved how the temperature goes down when it rains. Sleep becomes much more comfortable for him, and so despite its noise as the rain fell down Lex managed to sleep peacefully for what was possibly the first time in a few months. The early morning came with a refreshing air, and by the window Lex could smell the cool scent of the forest. As pessimistic as Lex often was, he was starting to feel thrilled about playing this game they called “Capture the Flag.” After looking out the window for a few minutes, Lex finally decided to go about his morning routines. Lex was a hygiene freak who liked taking his time in the morning, and he was extremely picky as well when it comes to choosing what to wear for the day. Soon after he got dressed in all-black clothing and combat boots, he thought of grabbing breakfast for a few minutes until he saw from the window how most of his teammates were already at the edge of the woods. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to strategise, Lex created a shadow portal from his room to travel to the edge of the forest. He appeared on the woods from a tree’s shadow. He hoped the day would remain cloudy, for he was at his strongest when it wasn’t a sunny day.

As a hunted murderer for more or less a couple of years now, Lex had developed the ability to strategise fairly well. He wasn’t book-smart and he didn’t even know if Neptune or Uranus came first, but “cunning” was his middle name and he wasn’t afraid to use it. And for some reason, strategising wars had always made him feel exhilarated. Before he left France, he was always seen by his peers as the weakling who would never win a fight. Now that he had actually managed to evade the authorities who had more connections around the world than him, Lex wanted to appear to his said peers again to laugh at them. Laugh, and then maybe torture them for torturing him in his childhood. Lex shook himself out of his brutal reverie as he walked towards the place where a handful of mutants were gathered. He could have popped up from their shadows, but Lex didn’t feel the need to surprise them with that. With an enigmatic smile on his face and his hands in his pockets, he reached the place where they stayed.

He recognised Sorin and Angel, but he had yet to meet the others. Subtly, he studied them with an analytical eye. He needed to have an idea of how his teammates and his opponents would be like if he were to come up with a brilliant strategy with them. He knew of Sorin and Angel’s powers, and he knew how in the forest Angel would have a lot of advantage due to his ability to fly and control the earth. Sorin hadn’t really explained his powers, but he could tell that Sorin has probably had a lot of experience and practise with it. He observed the others and wondered what their powers were, but he would probably see them later. For now, he could only judge their physical attributes and what could be advantageous to them. Lex’s mind raced with these thoughts, and unless you’re a mind reader you wouldn’t know—for on the outside, Lex’s expression was calm and unreadable. Just standing there felt a bit awkward, and so Lex decided to lean against a tree with his arms crossed. Any minute now and they’d be complete.

Tobin laid in his dorm-room bed, looking up at the ceiling above him. He couldn’t believe where life had taken him since he had left his home in California. Thinking back to that night at the Texas rest stop, Tobin wondered just exactly what had drawn him to the East Coast. Could it have been this school, this academy, that existed for people just like him? A part of him couldn’t believe what the other students were capable of doing, but then again, he could radiate light, so he had no room to talk about unbelievable powers. Tobin was still getting over the fact that the girl who had found him, Vader he thought her name was, had been able to read his mind. There was so much to get used to in this new world of which Tobin was a part. Absently, he wondered if he would ever be normal again, if he would ever marry and have the American dream. He doubted that people like him could afford the luxury, especially because his power was so dangerous. Thoughts of his father and grandmother came back to him, and Tobin couldn’t help but wonder if those deaths had been his fault. There were so many unanswerable questions, and they threatened to drive Tobin insane. He needed to get out of his room, to get his mind off of his different dilemmas. Turning to face the alarm clock in his room, Tobin saw that it was close to 6 o’clock in the morning, and he remembered some talk he had heard about a capture the flag game happening that morning, which he guessed he could check out.

Getting out of bed, Tobin slipped into an Underarmor long-sleeve shirt, a cut-off t-shirt that he had brought from California, and some athletic shorts, all of which were black. He wasn’t used to the coolness of the East Coast, especially in the morning, and he knew that the more he covered his skin in black clothing, the less the other team would be able to see him in the woods. He silently wished for his camouflage hunting gear, but that had been too bulky to pack when he had left home. There were no mirrors in Tobin’s room, a personal preference, so he couldn’t make sure that he looked at least somewhat cool. Personal image was somewhat important to Tobin, but right now, he figured it would be okay not to worry about it. After all, he would be running around the woods, and he would hardly be seen if he his job right. Slipping into his running shoes, Tobin left his dorm and made his way out of the mansion. Today would be fun; he just knew it.

The lawn was wet as Tobin walked across the grass towards the woods where they would play. He walked among some of the other mutants, but no one talked to him. He wasn’t really bothered by the fact that everyone kept to themselves. After all, it was early in the morning, and Tobin didn’t think he would be able to deal with a happy and sunny morning person just about right now. He didn’t really see anyone that he recognized, but he wasn’t too surprised because he really only knew one person, Vader. Still, it would’ve been nice to see a familiar face, but either way, today would be good for him because he would make some new friends. But in the time before the game started, Tobin just stood there awkwardly waiting.

PostSubject: Re: Capture the flag, episode 1   Capture the flag, episode 1 I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 04, 2011 3:26 am

Wren turned over, feeling her mind coming into awareness as she woke up. Her eyelids fluttered and she blinked away the last of sleep as she looked around her from her pillow. So it wasn’t a dream, she was really still here at the Xavier Institute. She could feel the warmth of the bed and bed linens she’d been provided and let out a contented sigh, smiling slightly to herself. She was beyond pleased with her decision to come here. It had been way too long since Wren had felt truly comfortable in a place, and somehow in this short a time, she felt at home here. She let out one more sigh, snuggling her face into her pillow before reminding herself that she needed to get up. One more moment of hesitation and Wren threw off her covers, flinching as the cooler air of her room hit her. It was another morning, and today was apparently capture the flag day, or at least that’s what she’d heard around the mansion the day before. No one had really told her directly, but she wasn’t surprised, she only knew Charlie by name, so she had yet to meet more people and make more friends.

Wren knew this chance to play capture the flag could provide her the chance to make real friends here, so she was the most excited about that. It took a few moments to walk around and get ready, donning the sweatpants, t-shirt, and combat boots they’d given her, explaining they were meant for training. She loved the fact that their training gear was pure comfort clothes. Turning to her mirror, Wren pulled her hair back and reached for her zip up hoodie as she headed toward the door. It was too early in the morning to not need it.

She made her way out toward the forests, wrapping her arms around herself as she realized it was more than just morning chill that was in the air, it was down-right cold. This worried her some. She was beginning to realize cold didn’t help her powers at all. She walked with quickened steps toward the knot of people that was forming at the edge of the forest, rubbing her upper arms, trying to create some much needed friction. Getting closer, she spotted Charlie and made her way toward her. “Hey Charlie…” she said softly, smiling at the one person she had any familiarity with.

She looked around at the others there hoping this was her chance to get to know the others. There was one boy who she could only describe as sunny, he just had this brightness about him. There was another boy who Wren had to describe as angelic, and it wasn’t just the fact that he had wings. Then there was another impeccably groomed boy with distinct angular features and a laid back almost shadowy aire to him. And yet another boy who seemed a bit secluded and had a bit of the handsome gruffness that Wren deemed much too cliche. Wren studied each of them in turn, granting each one a polite smile as she stood there, bouncing slightly to try and stay warm. Then she turned back to Charlie. “I don’t think it could be any colder out here…this isn’t going to be good if I need to use my powers…” she whispered to her, chuckling slightly.

Vader woke to the sound of voices in the hall outside her dorm room. She looked immediately at her wrist watch, which told her that a. she was late, and b. that she could still get to the edge of the forest for capture the flag on time, if she hurried. Vader slid out of her bed, which was warm compared to what the rest of her room felt like and changed quickly. She found her tennis shoes and stomped into them, not caring if she broke down the heels by doing it. Vader glanced in the mirror as she left, her hair was all tangled, but she didn’t have time to brush it so she twisted it into a loose bun as she walked, and then wrapped a two hair elastics around it to make sure her hair stayed put during the game.

The cool morning air woke Vader up more than anything else, Vader wished she’d brought her jacket; she was still used to Texas weather, where one would wake up in the morning to a low temperature of 93 degrees. Vader picked up her pace and moved into a jog. She reached the small group of mutants quickly. She was almost positive that she’d seen almost all of them around the institute, but she only knew three of them by name. Vader went to stand by Aiden, and gave him a brief smile. Vader noticed Tobin and nodded. She scanned the others in the circle; there were three girls, including herself, and five guys. Vader focused on each of their thoughts. One guy, the dark haired one, was thinking about everyone else’s powers, the blonde guy was thinking about the games, but seemed distracted. Vader switched to he next guy’s mind and felt a tingling sensation, like someone else was in his mind, Vader frowned slightly, that was unusual, but she supposed it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Maybe it’s another telepath at the academy, she thought, moving on to the girl standing beside Charlie. She was thinking about how her powers wouldn’t work in the cold as well, and Charlie was thinking about the games. “We’re so going to kick their butts.” Vader said to Charlie, in her friend’s mind.

((Sorry, it's kinda short. This is the first RP I've done on this site . . . ))

Drew was laying in her bunk, reading. It was around midnight . . . she had never really slept at night since she got to the Xavier Institute blah blah blah. She didn't really care that much if she missed classes. The only things she liked about the school were the occasional field trips and stuff like that.

Drew heard footsteps. She suddenly went invisible. One great thing about her power was that she could always sneek stuff, but she used it too often, so she became visible again. She started reading her book. She got so swallowed up in her book that she didn't realize the rain that had been going on outside getting louder.

Drew was jerked out of her thoughts by a huge clash of thunder. She fell out of her bunk.

"Ah! What the crap!" Drew started getting back up. It felt like her butt was bruised, but other than that she felt fine. She randomly started to walk around, not really thinking about anything. Her butt started hurting really badly, so she walked down to where the nurse's office would be.

'Knock knock knock.' No one answered. Oh, right. Duh. It's the middle of the night. Drew thought. Oh well. While I'm down here, I might as well make the most of it. Drew turned invisible.

She started pacing the floor, but that got old pretty soon. She looked out the window. It was just drizzling. Nah, too wet. Well . . . not necessarily.

Drew opened the door. She was still holding her book. It was getting lighter; about three or four hours had passed since she hurt her butt, so it was nearing dawn.

Drew started looking around for a place to read. She looked over at the forest. She took a few steps until she saw the cave.

Drew sat down there and started reading until she saw them.

Drew walked over to the group of mutants. Since she had only been at the "Xavier Institute for higher learning" for a couple of weeks, and she hadn't taken much time to get to know any of them. She didn't realize that she was still invisible until she looked down at her feet. She quickly looked up and turned visible.

"Hey" Drew said, looking back down at her feet.

PostSubject: Re: Capture the flag, episode 1   Capture the flag, episode 1 I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 04, 2011 9:05 pm

Alex looked out the window and the thunder passed his window, a small chuckle arose in from the boy. He was along in the room, the way he preferred, looking out at the moon he tilted his head. "Oh how wonderful" he said this to himself. For some reason Alex always had a connection to the moon, he felt stronger more alive. He looked back at his lap where a notebook lay open, a drawing of a raven with the full moon to it's back illuminating it in the dark. It was pretty good he thought, Alex was a bit critical about his drawings and if he messed up or it was disproportional he would scribble it out of throw it away. A wastebasket was semi-ful with failed attempts. He smiled at the drawing, his sketchbook full of decent drawings, usually some related to birds the sky, moon, ocean or ice. Alex layed down on his bed, he had woken about an hour ago, about three A.M. He sighed, since he joined Cirque du Soliell he had never gotten much sleep. Only a handful of hours here and there, "I guess i'm just hardwired that way." Alex usually helping clean, cook, working on his next show, or help setting up camp. Alex looked at his watch, it was close to four. He nodded, and put his ear buds in listening to Asking Alexandria - "The Final Episode". He just started to doodle, while his mind wandered from the new Of mice and men album out. To the stars, to the ocean.

For reason the picture of a rose popped into his mind. With that he held out his hand, and stem started to form from ice crystals. The leaves placed on the rose, and soon it was completed. He smiled sadly, it looked just like a rose. In every way. He had to try and create roses for a year or so, so this was one he could do well. He looked at it, is looked like a rose. But it wasn't, Alex couldn't create life. He could create a replica, just not the real thing. Sighing he tossed the rose into the wastebasket. Alex looked at himself in the mirror, something he didn't usually do. He didn't do it to see if he looked "cool" or "ugly" he knew he was average.. or he thought so. He really didn't care. He looked at the mirror, and saw three claw mark scars along his chest. When he was younger he thought he could take on a wolf that had escaped the local zoo. In his head he thought he'd be like some hero. Oh how stupid had he been? "Well it taught me something, I just gotta......." chuckling to himself, "keep cool." The pun amusing to him.

With that he got up and put on a a Tshirt, and than a brown jacket that fell a few inches below his waist. He picked up his snowboard, and slipped his shoes on. They were running shoes, but there were metal clips on the side. Used to connect his feet to his snowboard, they were quick to put on too. He walked out into the hall way, and walked to a wooden chest with pillows on it. Alex sat on the window seal above it and rested his feet on the pillows, his snowboard leaning against the wall. He just put his head against the window and looked out, his eyes looking at the moon. The view better than in his room, the rain not really messing with his gaze locked upon the moon. He was listening to "Second and Sebring" by Of Mice and Men. After that song, "The Kings and Queens" by Thirty Seconds to Mars started to play. Somehow while he was lost in thought, something between being a rock star and never growing up, hours passed.

His head shot to one side as he saw something white shoot across the sky, as he looked closer he saw they were wings. Angel.... hmmmmm it must be time for the game. Just now seeing the moon had long since been gone, replaced by the glow of sunlight. He opened the window, and looked down. He was on the third floor, smiling he attached his board to his feet. His back to the open world, a girl came out of her room and saw him. Winking Alex leaned back and fell out of the window, he righted himself in air by doing a clumsy flip. He laughed, yes he laughed. The feeling he got while doing this, free falling. He loved it! He smiled and got ready, hold his right hand out he shot out an ice beam. Creating a ramp like structure made of ice with snow there to cushion the impact, he hit it with his snowboard and landed safely. If he knew how to do one thing, it was snowboard. He kept hit ice beam up at a upward slope until his speed was gone. With that he sat down and hopped off the ice path, he sat on the ground and unhooked his feet. He picked his board up and made his way towards the woods. Hoping no one slipped on the ice that was on the ground or anything, he looked back and grimmest.

He arrived to see a small group, he nodded towards Lex and Angel. Than smiled towards Charlie, the only ones he knew of the group. His music playing, "To plant a seed" by We Came As Romans. He leaned against a tree, and closed his eyes. One earbud out and one in. His headphones strung under his shirt. He heard the smaller blonde girl whisper, he knew it was her because he knew it was a girl by the voice, and he knew Charlies voice and the other girl seemed to focus staring off into space when he had walked by. Alex wasn't one hundred percent sure why he just did that, his mind just presented the answer to who talked and than the supporting facts appeared in his mind. Am I really that bored? He opened his eyes to see a girl appear from no where, raising an eyebrow he smiled and suppressed a chuckle. He wondered if it was invisibility or transportation. Alex wondered when this thing would start, and once more looked around at the unknown faces, wondering if he had even seen any of them here.

((...and I think that is every one...let us continue!))

Charlie watched as an assortment of people she did and didn't know made their way down to the edge of the forest. To some she returned their smiles and nods but as a whole her gaze was steady and cool. The stream of people had slowed down almost to a stop and she knew it was almost time to start. A quiet had settled over the group, if it was there already, as they all waited for instruction, each eager to begin. Slowly her gazed turned to the game instructor, a senior X-Man who was probably 21, 22ish, Charlie didn't know him all that well, only in passing in the hall way, she believed his name was Jason (to which Charlie smiled and thought 'Jason and the Argonauts') and his power was shape changing or something, it really didn't matter at the moment because he wouldn't play. No his role was to start and over see the games, making sure every thing went well and what not. As she watched him he clamored onto a stump making him a goo foot taller than the tallest person there and cleared his throat. Which Charlie didn't find necessary as he would have there attention any way, maybe he was just flaunting his power. He took the two flags, one green and the other gold, both about the size of a regular American flag (with no post) and began.

"Good morning every one, I hope you slept well. We shall begin after teams are announced and the rules are gone over..." a groan was emitted form the group, its hard to tell teenagers there are rules to go over and receive a happy response. But Charlie caught a glimmer of laughter in his eye as he continued
"This wont take long, the teams, boys against girls." some boys gave out a whoop but most every one just looked at each other, had that been done before? The game instructor smiled at them and Charlie glowered
"And the rules are as simple as always. Play fair, to win your flag must cross the boundaries into your territory, no killing." With that Jason handed the flags to a girl and boy Charlie didn't know but she braced herself, she knew what was coming next.
"GO!" he shouted and Charlie started off at a nice jog while other girls sprinted ahead her, she just rolled her eyes, they all where going to meet at the center of their territory to discuss what that battle plan was and they where all going to the same place. Running there would just tire you out but did they ever listen to Charlie? No they didn't and 1/4 of the way into the game they had run every where and where dead tired when they where supposed to be on guard or something.

Ah well, Charlie got to the center quickly any way, and waited for the other girls to circle up. It was game time.

(o.k so post once and then wait for every one else, simple!))

Drew wasn't really paying attention. All she heard was the simple rules of capture the flag, no killing, and girls against boys. Then the man telling them the rules gave her the gold flag. She realized that they were starting the game, so she just ran.

After all the girls were there, she started.

"Okay, so I think that I should be one of the girls who goes to get the flag, since my power is invisibility. If I can summon up enough power, I could get into my full body power. I did it twice before. My full body power is where I take the shape of a wolf, and I sorta vaporize. I can still hold suff when I'm in my full body power, but the problem is that they could see me holding the flag. I could put it under my shirt, I guess . . . "

Drew looked up at them. There weren't very many girls. There were definitely way more guys than girls. Drew seemed to notice the others see it, too so she started speaking motivational words.

"Okay, look guys. There are way more guys than us, but they don't have as good powers as us. Okay, so who's gonna win this? I konw I am!"

Drew looked back up at them.

"Okay. Well, we need one more person who should go to the other side with me. So who wants to?"

A few more people arrived after Wren and she gave each one of them a small, friendly smile. Of the others that came, there were three more fairly close to Wren’s age, or so she suspected they were. There was a girl who was fairly petite and had the most beautiful strawberry-blonde hair Wren has ever seen, and there was another girl with young features and blonde hair. Then after them came a guy with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. There were a lot more people here than Wren had expected, that was nice, she was more confident in the chance of finding a friend here from that simple fact.

The group was only standing there in somewhat sleep-deprived silence for a moment longer. After a few minutes, an older looking guy, who she assumed was meant to be the overseer of the game, moved from the crowd, leaping up onto a stump and clearing his throat to get everyone’s attention. Wren turned to listen, wanting to make sure she heard everything. If nothing else, Wren was always set on knowing the rules, the last thing she wanted was to make a mistake that meant she hadn’t been paying attention, it was one of her pet peeves. The older guy explained that they were being split into boys versus girls groups and gave them simple rules to follow. As he concluded, Wren nodded pausing for a moment as the other girls ran toward their designated territory. She didn’t want to get caught up in the stampede.

Once there was less chaos, Wren ran her way in the direction the rest of the group had gone. When she caught up to everyone, she stopped, catching her breath quickly, glad that she was used to running. As she arrived she noticed that a few of the other girls were talking quietly but it only took a moment for one person to speak up to the whole group. It was the blonde girl she’d noticed before. She pointed out the number discrepancy between the two groups and proceeded to ask for volunteers to go to the other side. Wren hesitated, not wanting to be the new girl who just volunteered to impress people. But there wasn’t anyone who looked like they were jumping to respond.

After another moment, Wren hesitantly raised her hand, ducking her head shyly. “Um…I—I can go…if no one else wants to…” she mumbled, looking around, hoping she hadn’t cut anyone off. She wasn’t sure exactly how these games here worked, but she hoped she’d be able to help…of course she’d have to get warmer first, but she’d worry about that later.

Lex was certainly not fond of stepping up to take charge of his team. He could be very competitive and driven at times, but he did not want to lead this group. He certainly would not be held responsible for what was to happen, and if he were to choose his position he would rather be the one who helped strategise by giving them tips and suggestions. So without a word, he headed towards their territory with his hands in his pocket and a stony expression on his face. Discreetly, he sized up his teammates to guess who would probably lead them. Angel and Alex, the two guys he had met the first time he arrived at the Institute, didn’t seem like the type of people who would step forward to proclaim themselves as the leader. That left him with Sorin and two other guys he had yet to meet. Sorin was looking as sunny as ever it was almost blinding, but Lex believed he had the potential to lead. There was a guy with dark hair and blue eyes, but he seemed to be reserved and reserved people usually didn’t sign up to be leaders. Then there was a blonde guy who Lex had yet to meet. He seemed like he had leadership potential with the way he held himself.

Upon reaching their territory/strategy-making place, Lex turned to his teammates to speak to them. He really didn’t want to do this, but no one had spoken yet, and it wasn’t like he would be claiming the spot as their leader. He only wanted to give a few suggestions, and that was that. After all, dark and brooding reclusive guys just didn’t go with leading groups or teams. They were supposed to be the guy in the background who’s so reclusive he doesn’t even know what’s happening. “Well, it seems we have outnumbered the females,” he said with his thick French accent and calm voice. “But let us not make hasty decisions because of that. It is possible they have abilities that are stronger than ours. So, to plan this very well, would you please let the team know what you can do?” To begin, Lex gazed at one of the guys’ shadows until he managed to open a shadow portal. “I can create shadow portals,” he said. It wasn’t everything he could do, but he knew Angel and Sorin had more offensive powers so he decided it wasn’t necessary to show them other stuff. “I could be the team ‘spy’, but someone with an offensive power must come with me.”

Lex wasn’t really fond of having companions, but he had yet to practise his offensive abilities; hence, the need for a companion with a good control of his offensive abilities. “The one who should come with me though must not be our strongest offensive, for we’ll need him to capture the flag.” He looked at his teammates with an eyebrow raised. “Well?”

Angel? Leader? No, no, no, no... that was not him at all. He was not the leader type, nowhere near. That kind of thing took confidence and been good around people, which was the opposite of Angel. Amd so, he walked along next to Lex as he headed off for the woods. There were bits in here that he would be able to fly through, but he knew there'd be clumps of tress he wouldn't be able to get through, and he didn't want to make a massive noise by flying through branches. The only people Angel could really see leading the group were the guy who just seemed... sunny, or the other blonde dude. The guy with the darker hair seemed to be the quiet type, like Angel.

As Angel walked through the trees on Lex's heels, a small flame was dancing in his hand and going through his fingers. It was a comfort thing, something Angel did while he thought or while he was feeling a bit awkward or uncomfortable. Or if he was nervous. Just the feeling of the warm, tingling fire in his palm managed to calm him down, which was ironic in a way, seeing as fire was often seen as quite an angry thing. In Angel's eyes, it was beautiful.

"We might outnumber them, but it's not by much. I think there's a difference of one person." Anmgel pointed out to Lex as he commented on them outnumbering the lasses. "But I agree. We don't know what their powers are. Apart from Charlie - she can create and control energy, making shards and stuff with it. And she can fly." Angel knew this, because Charlie was the one who had picked him up, and she'd shown him what she could do. "As for abilities, mine could be offensive or defensive, depending on how they're used. I can fly, as shown by my very obvious wings, and I can control the elements." Angel held up his hand with the flame in it to show the others a part of what he could do.

Well, at least there was one thing Angel was going to get out of this - he could at least find out the abilities of the others in this group. That was good - he wanted to know who had what at this school, and now was a good time to find out at least some of the other abilities people had.

Tobin stood in the cold of the morning listening to the X-Man epxlaint he rule to the game that he and the other mutants were about to play. He didn’t think it would be fair to play boys against girls, but that just meant that he would have the opportunity to show off for the various ladies who were taking a part in the game. He didn’t mind throwing some illusions around and scaring the everliving daylights out of the girls. All he had to do was live through this cold. He wasn’t used to it, but he had a strong will. He would survive through it.

With the final rule concerning the mortality of each of the players, the X-Man refereeing the game yelled, “GO!” Boys and girls took off into the woods. Some ran; others jogged. Tobin was one to save his energy, but he moved fast enough to warm him up. Arriving at the location, he was surprised to see how many people were there, and yet no one was talking. Tobin didn’t want to be the one to speak up. After all, he had only been at the Institute for a couple of days. He didn’t have the clout to be the leader, but if no one stepped up, he would.

Luckily, another guy took the lead. He looked rather clean for it being so early in the morning, but Tobin didn’t pay him mind. He would have to be on defense because he could hide the flag. “I will guard the flag,” Tobin chimed in. “I can turn the flag invisible, so they won’t be able to find it unless they step on it. By that time, we should have them tagged and put in jail. That’s how you play capture the flag right?” There were so many ways to play that Tobin wanted to make sure.

PostSubject: Re: Capture the flag, episode 1   Capture the flag, episode 1 I_icon_minitimeWed Jul 20, 2011 5:29 pm

Vader didn’t really pay attention to what the game instructor was saying. She was just staring off into space, trying to focus everyone’s thoughts at once, particularly the guy’s thoughts so she could know where the flag was. The thoughts of several possible hiding spaces for the flag filled her head, but none of them were definite. Vader tapped her fingers against her leg impatiently; she needed to find as many places for the flag as possible before everyone spread out since she couldn’t get into someone’s head at a distance. Vader didn’t know what the actual range was, but most of the time, Vader could ‘hear’ someone’s thoughts from about a fourth of a mile away with a good bit of concentration. Suddenly a piece of fabric was thrust into Vader’s hands and she looked down, surprised, and saw a gold flag in her hands. Now alert, Vader prepared herself to run. “Go!” She heard from both the came instructors thoughts and voice. She knew from Charlie’s thoughts that the first dew minutes would be a madhouse, so she waited until it cleared. Charlie was a little ahead of Vader and the other two girls were in front of Charlie. She moved into a run and passed Charlie quickly, the flag crumpled in her hands. Vader ran at a steady but fast pace until she reached where the two other girls were standing. Once Charlie arrived one of the girls started talking immediately. Vader studied her as she talked. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and she about fifteen or sixteen, but Vader searched her mind and found that she was actually seventeen. She listened to what the girl said, but didn’t really pay attention; it was too predictable of a move to send the girl that was invisible to go get the flag directly. Vader bit her lip, trying to keep silent as the girl took control of the team before anyone else had the chance.

She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the blonde invisibility girl; she was saying motivational stuff, as if they were going to have a problem winning. Vader waited rather impatiently for the girl to finish speaking and the girl next to her to volunteer to go with her behind the enemy’s lines. “Why don’t we sort out a few things first?” Vader said, her voice was quiet, but full of authority. “Were going to have to work as a team, meaning that one person-” Vader stopped and looked pointedly at the girl who could become invisible. “can’t just take over everything.” Her voice became softer now that she’d finished reprimanding. “ Now, I like your plan, but the guy’s will suspect something like that from anyone. My suggestion is that we can send both of you, and I’ll be near the lines to see if I can find where the flag is hidden in the guys’ thoughts, it might take me some time but I will be able to at least get an image of where it is and I can give it to y’all…any other ideas? It’ll be better if we put all out heads together instead of just one or two of us.” Vader finished.

Aiden listened as the guy explained how it was all going down. He explained the rules which didn't seem too hard to follow and then he said the teams. "Girls against boys." Aiden quickly skimmed the crowd. Not including the rule dude, there were 6 boys and 4 girl. The man shouted "GO" and he jogged after his team as they formed together to decide on where to hide the flag. Aiden was slightly disappointed when he realized he knew over half of the girl's team and absolutely no one on his side. As they headed over, Aiden stayed at the back of the group and he saw someone holding fire in their hands. Well... looks like they had some strong powers.

Some guy with a French accent spoke up. He asked around what people's powers were. A few mentioned what they were and how they could be useful in the game. Then, one guy said he should guard the flag. "Wait. There is a mind reader on the other team and she will be able to know where the flag is easily if any of you hide it. I don't know how... but when we were changed, I got an immunity to her power. My mind has a barrier around it that she can hack into but it will make her weak. Plus she won't be able to do it from far away. I think the best bet would be for me to hide it. Otherwise, she would tell her whole team and the game would be over quickly." He looked over at the guy who was just talking. "Umm... don't know your name, but once I hide it, I can tell you the general area of it. If you see it, turn it invisible. But if you don't, you can always see if someone find it and then turn it invisible in their hands. Hopefully it will throw them off long enough for you to tag them."

He looked down at the mossy ground. "That might work..."
