Vader tossed her pencil down on her bed. She was done with homework for now. This whole weekend had been filled with nothing but homework, and now Vader was sick of Pre-Calculus and Latin and every other assignment that she’d been assigned. Not that Latin was bad, she quite enjoyed the class because she had a fairly good grasp of the language as she spoke some Italian and French, but Pre-Cal was a challenge. Vader had never been particularly good at math; she would always be a terrible mathematician. She’d barely gotten along with Algebra 2 despite the fact that she enjoyed solving for variables, but then came Pre-Cal with the introduction to imaginary numbers and that thing that started with a D that Vader never remembered to do. Yes, it was safe to say that Vader hated math.

The teachers hadn’t assigned a ton of homework, but it had been quite a lot, fortunately she only had one or two assignments left. She decided that she could take a break for fresh air or something of the sort. However, that short break turned into a trip to New York City within a few minutes. It was before noon, so Vader figured that she could get to New York and back before curfew. Actually she could probably get back long before curfew if she tested how fast her shinny new BMW would go. Vader smiled, she decided to get the car after she’d returned to the Academy with Tobin in tow, so to speak.

Vader was ready to leave in about fifteen minutes. As she walked down the hall, she wondered if she should as Aiden if he wanted to go, but decided against it; she wanted some time to herself. Her high heels clicked against the stone floor as she walked toward the front offices to sign out. She wasn’t sure why, but she liked the clicking sound that they made.

The blonde mutant pushed the door to the front offices open slowly, ignoring he loud thoughts that flooded her mind. In the hallway she hadn’t heard anything but whispers but now the voices were loud and clear in her head. She’d gotten used to it, but it was still strange hearing the thoughts of those who, like her, were “gifted.” Vader wasn’t sure what it was, but she thought that mutants had a different though process, it seemed that a lot of them were more worried about what would happen if they were found out than what other people thought of them. She liked the difference; it made the thoughts more interesting to hear.

As she signed out Vader noticed a mutant around her age in the front offices as well. While this wasn’t uncommon, Vader had never met this guy before and was feeling quite bold all round compared to her usual secretly shy self. “I haven’t seen you around here before. Are you new?” Vader asked with a smile, as she tried to stay out of the guy’s thoughts.

His foot hit the ground, the sound that came from this action was incredibly magnified, and Ben picked up on this, not that it really mattered, he was so tired, though he had no baggy eyes, no drooping spine, he didn’t even have a yawn, it was a mental tiredness that he only got from using his power, he didn’t like it, not one bit, but if there was someone here that could help him with his power then he had to take this place up, even though he really wasn’t sure about. He didn’t like mingling with people, it was all too...stressful for Ben, he almost always ended up freaking out, though he decided that it would be much better to actually get to know some people, rather than just simply sit by himself...well actually that idea was much more appealing in Ben’s eyes, but first he had to get to the entrance, a task easier said than done.

He shuffled forward, though he wasn’t as tired as he had been in London, his slowish walking pace gave him the chance to observe the architecture of this place, it was a well built building, which confirmed Alice’s words when she said it was safe, though Ben really meant the people, not so much the building. Another step forward and he entered the Front Office of the place...he was overwhelmed with the noise, he didn’t like it, he preferred his quiet, when he was in his near collapsing state anyway, hopefully people would understand, though Ben didn’t have any opinion on them yet. He just stood there for a while, thinking mainly, it was too hard for him, after all he was older now, using his power didn’t mean two weeks out, maybe a day.

He could remember waking up in his room, apparently he had been to hospital for a while and his head had been badly injured, though that had cleared years ago, Ben didn’t like the blackouts, the only thing it gave Ben was that he no longer feared death, I mean he had been through a very similar experience and if that was what death was actually like, he didn’t really mind the prospect, though he still wanted to live to a ripe age, dyeing young was definitely not on his ‘wish list’. Not that the thought really swelled in Ben’s mind, no, he was mainly thinking about sleeping, that would solve things, he deeply rubbed his face and sighed before turning around and being met by another mutant, well Ben had guessed a while ago that everyone here was a mutant anyway.

She asked if he was new here, and he answered her politely though his voice showed he was tired, even if his appearance did not, “Yeah...I just got here...so tired.” He probably thought that this other mutant thought he meant from the journey, it was a logical enough explanation anyway, but Ben needed to rest, quite seriously. Though he got every bit of strength to keep talking to this girl, a smile formed on his face and he managed to cough up a question, “You been here a while then?”
