Ah, yet another day in prison, Lucien thought, stretching on the small bed he had in his cell. He'd been in jail now for two years, stuck in solitary confinement. When he'd been sentenced, the judge had called him a monster, the devil incarnate, the antichrist. Lucien had quite liked the sound of that and laughed in the judge's face when he'd got told he had 18 life sentences and was going to rot in jail. He was immortal after all, so he'd outlive all these pathetic humans and be walking free once he'd finished his sixth life sentence. Free to kill again, and free to go back to enjoying himself with his drugs.

That had been what had made these two years hell... not the fact that he was in prison (he'd break out sometime, if he could be bothered, or just wait to be let free), but the fact that he'd had to go cold turkey and come off the drugs. While he might not be able to get physically addicted, he was psychologically addicted to them, just like he was with murdering. Then again, that wasn't just an addiction, that was fun. He didn't know why everyone had made a big fuss... who was going to miss the hobos, really? And drug dealers.. he was just doing what everyone else wanted to but wouldn't dare do. And it meant he didn't have to pay them... in fact, it was the exact opposite. He got their money. After all, dead people didn't need money.

With a sigh, Lucien got off his bunk and walked to the door of his cell. It was shut, so no one could see in and he couldn't see out, but he knew there was a cop out there. There always was one, in case of an emergency, such as a suicide attempt. That was one of Lucien's plans for escape... commit suicide. He couldn't die, but he would probably be able to fake it pretty well. Then as soon as he was out of his cell, he'd attack the guards, and try to get out. However, this plan was flawed. While he might have weapons profiency, there was only so much a person could do with a baton. So for now, Lucien was just chilling out. Rapping on the door, Lucien shouted out to the guard.

"Oi! Where's my bloody breakfast? And I want out for a cig!"

Luckily, Lucien had managed to carry on smoking. He was let out for an hour a day, during which he worked under supervision to earn money for his cigs. The work was just basic stuff, such as cleaning the toilets and showers or weeding or raking outside. He hadn't caused any trouble since he'd been in prison, which is why he was able to get that precious time outside to savour a cig. The guard called for some assistance, just in case Lucien did try anything, and then when there were five cops there, all in riot gear, he was led outside and given his cig, which he lighted. He handed the lighter back to one of the guards, and took a drag from his cig. The cig thing was another of his plans. He could control fire, though he couldn't create it, so the lighter would help him escape. But once again, Lucien just couldn't be arsed.

Finishing his cig, Lucien was took back to his cell, where he had his breakfast (two slices of toast and a glass of orange juice... the food here was rubbish!), then laid back down on his bed to relax. He couldn't be bothered with excercise or plotting, so he just let his mind wander, reliving the glory of all his kills. How they'd screamed and begged him to let them live, how the knife had felt as he stabbed and sliced them, how the blood had felt and smelt as it spurted over him.

He really couldn't wait to get out of here and get back to his old ways. And maybe he would escape someday. Maybe.

The day was cold to say the least. And Charlie was fine with it. Winter was her favorite season after all. Although, granted she didn't necessarily want to be on a rescue mission of sorts during her holiday, but C'est la vie. She rubbed her gloved hands together and blew into them as her pensive eyes watched the door of the penitentiary. They where turning a bright green as her heart began to race, she shouldn't be so nervous, she had done this before. Well actually, she had never done this before The institute didn't like the idea of a powerful mutant sitting in a mundane prison, but that was the institute, always feeling like they could change every one. Truly the idea was noble and Charlie would love to believe it, but sometimes she thought the mutants in charge thought about their ideals to much and strayed from the outside world. Charlie didn't like the feeling of this, and to be honest it scared her. Never the less the institute got permission from the prison to come and get the guy and bring him home.

She had sat an watched as a few people come and go from the prison's front doors but there wasn't much going on to elicit much concern. Reluctantly Charlie rose and entered the building, she struggled to control her racing heart, but she calmed herself, she new she cannot show fear or nervousness, lest it be perceived as a weakness.

To Charlie's inner horror they hadn't been expecting her, at all, but she was determined to see this through. Thankfully, when you represent the strongest collection of mutants you kinda get to go where ever you want to, well need to, cause Charlie didn't like the inside of a prison, too many confined spaces. The guard led her down a dimly lit hallway, the guards shoes clacking loudly on the linoleum while Charlie walked like a ghost. As they walked Charlie noticed something unusual, she could see how this was a fine prison for normal criminals, but there where to many hazard spots that mutants could manipulate. It was then that a thought struck her, they didn't know what he was. They knew who contacted them and that they had to obey the institute as issued by their own government, but they didn't know what he was. With this new knowledge she felt another weighing responsibility, she would have to protect all of these people if things got out of hand. She groaned.

Eventually she was led up to a large steal door, no windows and only an electronic lock that the guards controlled. She nodded to the guard and told him to open the door. She took a deep breath and steadied herself, her training would kick in if anything where to happen, but what could happen right?

Lucien was reliving his last murders, the murders of his parents and that police officer who had triedto arrest him. That had been the time he had truly lost his sanity, when he had been absolutely crazy, much crazier than he usually was. He wouldn't try that blend of drugs again.. it had been a bad trip. A very bad trip. He had remembered coming round, and finding he had murdered his parents. He hadn't felt anything then - no joy, nor any sorrow. It had just been another kill, two more of many. The police officer had made three, but it was the murder of his parents tat stuck in his mind. His mother had been covered in blood, her throat slit and many stab wounds in her body, blood oozing from each one aand the wall in front covered from her throat. It was his father, however, that had recieved the most damage. He, too, had many, many stab wounds. But there hadn't been just that... Lucien had stabbed out his eyeballs and carried on stabbing, stabbing, stabbing, until the jelly substance of the eyes had broken up totally and his father brains were mush, pouring from his eyes. Ah, how glorious a sight that had been!

And then those stupid police had come to get him. He'd managed to get one of them - stabbed him in the face and then the throat, and then the chest - before the other two had managed to take him down. He'd been put in hand cuffs, and then thrown into the back of tthe police van like a sack of meat. Him, a sack of meat! He was much more than that, much more than any human or any other mutant. The judge had called him the devil incarnate, an antichrist. He'd liked the sound of that, but the judge was wrong. He was not a devil, nor anything so weak as an antichrist. No, he was a god! A god amongst men, who had the power to take life away. He wasn't bothered about giving life... taking it away was so much more fun. Ah, how he wished he was out of here, to escpae this boring confinement, to feel the breeze rush over him again before the adrenalin kicked in again and he felt more blood pour over him. He missed the killings, the drugs, and, of course, the women. Men... eh, they were alright depending on his mood, but he definitely preferred the women - you could have so much more fun with them!

He was dragged from his thoughts as the door bzzed and the lock unlocked. The door opened, and standing there was a girl... Wait, a girl? What was a girl doing here? Lucien was in solitary confinement - he wasn't allowed visitors. And who would want to visit him? He had no friends, nor any family. He had left his friends, finding them too mundane, and he had made sure that he had no family - his parents had been only children, and his grandparents had died a long time ago.

The girl had sandy blonde hair, and her eyes looked hazel, though they were looking a bright green colour at the moment. She was wearing a hoody and sweatpants, probably due to it been winter anda little chilly outside. She wasn't the worst looking girl Lucien had ever seen, but then again, she wasn't the best. Again, he wondered what she was doing here. Didn't she know he was dangerous, a mass murderer? She wouldn't know about him been a mutant... no one knew that, apart from that Professor Xavier guy. And Lucien had heard that he was dead.

"Who are you?" Lucien asked, standing up from his bed and looking the girl in her face. "What are you doing here?"

Lucien wasn't feeling very playful at the moment, nor very chatty yet. Social interaction was something he had been dened for two years - the policce didn't talk to him much, and he was damned if he'd talk aloud to himself. That would make him look crazier than he was, and he had no desire to be locked up in a mental hospital. He didn't fancy wearing one of those jumpers that tie the arms togetehr at the back. At least here, in his cell, he could move his arms freely.

Charlie was met with a sight she wasn't expecting. In her minds eye she had pictured some one broken, even if they where physically threatening which this boy didn't seem to be, she expected to see the broken soul in his eyes, she expected an apologetic face and weary body. The eyes that where numb from the worlds abuse and their own spirit crushed, but this was not what Charlie saw. No, his eyes where alight with something that Charlie didn't care to know. All she knew is that the fire that light his eyes and burned in his soul was not a holy one. Something was bothering her.

'Who are you? What are you doing here?" he asked her, eyes looking right into her's. Charlie met his challenge and looked straight at him right back.

And although her gaze was sharp her voice was soft and the corner of her mouth quirked up into a partial smile as she said
"Is that a way to greet the girl who is getting you out of prison Lucian Davis?"

Her eyes studied him, trying to figure just a piece of him out. She had heard strange stories about him, very strange stories. The guards seemed to wearily eye him, but they had told her he had behaved well during his time here, perhaps they had heard the same things she had. Strange how a mans reputation seemed to exceed him even though he was trapped in a solitary cell. Strange how mere stories could cause guards, grown men, fear a disheveled 18 year old. Bringing her eyes up to meet his again she said

"I am Charlotte Black, your savior a guide back to New York. Lucian Davis, you are free." She felt strange saying that and she wasn't so sure as to why she did, but this boy made her wonder. Suddenly as her eyes watched his she caught a whisp of what perhaps had bothered her before. For a brief moment as she watched him, she could of sworn he hadn't looked human.

"Is that a way to greet the girl who is getting you out of prison Lucien Davis?"

Lucien visibly stiffened as the sentence left the girl's mouth. She was getting him out of here? Really? Or was she just bullshitting him? Lucien wouldn't put it past one of the guards to get his hopes up and then dash them to try and make Lucien feel down. Not that it would work - Lucien could be perfectly emotionless when he wanted to be. The guards should have realised that by now, but all they saw wasthe crazy mass murderer. Oh, why couldn't they see? Why couldn't they understand? He just wasn't meant to be a normal person. But they would never understand, so he would just suffer in silence, locked away from the world to slowly lose the last of his sanity, waiting for the years to pass until he could get out of here. And when he got out, he'd be a drooling idiot, lost in a society that wouldn't ever know who he was.

Ha, yeah right! Lucien had no intention of staying here, he just couldn't be bothered breaking out earlier. What would be the point in it? He would get bored of been on the run and hiding. He'd end up getting caught again, probably after wiping out a vllage or two, leaving them to drown in the blood of it's citizens. Or maybe he'd be nice and not murder anyone for a couple of months. It depended on whether or not he'd be able to find a dealer... the first thing he was going t do when he got out of here was find someone with a bit of weed. Ah, the good green stuff. He missed that, missed how it made him relax. It was the only thing that did. He couldn't even get drunk any more! Seriously, how rubbish was that? It was the only downside of been immortal. Everyone he knew would grow old and die while he stayed young and unchanging forever? He'd probably visit them in the old folks home just to laugh at them before putting them out of their misery. Old age was a curse anyways, and he was glad he'd escape that. He'd have no scars to remember any prevous injuries to learn from? Well, his complexion would be fabulous! He'd never be able to settle down with someone and raise a family? Who cares! Hew wasn't one to be bogged down by anything, least of all a woman... and children... urgh! But he couldn't get drunk? Now that was something he wasn't happy about, something he'd probably be moaning about for a couple of decades.

Pushing all this out of his head, which had took place in a fleeting second, Lucien put on a relaxed air, not letting it show how excited he actually was. No matter what happened, he'd be getting out of here eith this Charlotte Black girl. Whether that was as a companion who had gotten him out or as a hostage, he didnt care. There was only so long a person could go been stuck in one room, and Lucien had gotten past that amount of time ages ago. And here was a golden oppurtunity. And not just to get out of here, bt to start a new reiagn of terro in a whole new place! And that was New York, of all the places in the world! A murde revery now and then would probably go mostly unnoticed, with the amount of crime there would be in that city that never slept. Still, that broguth up a couple of questions...

"You're getting me out of here? Great. But two qestions... first of all how do you know my name? And second, why New York?" He asked. He had a strange feeling about this girl. She wasn't lie other humans he met.. she had a different feel about her. The feelingthat Lucien only got around one particular type of being... a mutant. He wondered what ability she had, ad if it was worth taking. He was hoping she didn't know about his actual ability, as he wanted to just make it seem as though all he had was immortality. He would keep his real power for a secret for as long as possible, and he would play the guilt wridden criminal, who regretted all he had done. That wouldn't be hard to do, as far as he was concerned. Acting was just another form of lying, something he happened to be very good at. And he could always tell when someone lied to him... that had been another power he'd picked up.

"You're getting me out of here? Great. But two qestions... first of all how do you know my name? And second, why New York?"

Charlie gave him a partial smile but didn't answer. She cast a glance to one of the guards standing next to her before returning her gaze to Lucian's. She had no intention of telling him anythingthing with the guards present. No, she was sure the less they knew the better. Although, to be honest, she didn't necisarily want to get this guy alone either. Her body warned her to be weary of him, but her stubborness and perheps simple impertinance wasn't going to let her stand down, defiance seemed to be second nature to Charlie.

Yes her simple defiance of most things that where told to her coupled with a knack to figure every thing she was told was a lie is what had driven her parents crazy when she was a child and her teachers even more so. Perhaps this is what kept her friends at a distance from her, but then again she did that on purpose. Protection from herself, that was all she could give them. Ergo the more she cared about them the farther away from herself she tried to keep them, a strange process but in the end Charlie had found the pain is less, although you have to live with an over all numb feeling. On the outside she could appear bold and daring, but when people tried to get close she shied away, because she was afraid inside they would find something that was small and afraid. his boy made her feel small and afraid, but she would never show it, in fact her gaze challanged his, she wouldn't back down.

"Come with me and I will tell you on the way." she said "Unless of course you prefer prison." she shrugged and turned to walk out.

The only answer Lucien got to his questions was a small smile. He saw Charlotte's eyes flicker over to the guards, and Lucien rolled his eyes. Those guards were oafs, and he could easily sort them out. If he was leaving, he wanted what little things he had here. Those little things been his iPod, his watch, his wallet (though the assholes had taken all his money) and, of couse, his knife. The knife he'd gotten from the mugger who'd tried to kill him., Lucien's first murder. That was something he'd never forget... the first time he'd ever stabbed someone, the first time he'd slashed and sliced someone open, the first time the coppery scent of blood had washed over him as it had sprayed everywhere.

"Come with me and I will tell you on the way." Charlie said to him. "Unless of course you prefer prison." With that, she turned and started to walk away.

This girl was a mystery, and Lucien was going to enjoy figuring this curious girl out. He raised his eyesbrow at what she said. Of course he wanted to get out of prison! He'd been here for two years, bored beyond words, but too lazy to break out. He'd not harmed a single person in two years, and he'd been forced to go cold turkey. He'd looked at the same four walls, done the same thing everyday. He'd only had an hour outside of this room per day, which was enough to make anyone go crazy, and Lucien had been crazy before he arrived. Right now, he just wanted his knife, wanted to go on a rampage and then get some drugs and be off his face. His own way of celebreating. But the rampage would have to wait, and, unfortunately, the drugs probably would have to as well.

He walked out of the cell and smiled at the guards as sweetly as he could. Oh, how he wished he could break their necks! But they were lucky... Lucien wouldn't be doing any kililng today. No, today he was getting out of here, never to come back. Well, maybe never was a bit long. Lucien was immortal, after all, and he would most liekly get bored of being stuck in the same country alll the time. But bny the time he came bck here, the guards would be dead, probably of natural causes, but hopefully not.

Going up to the oficer's room, Lucien collected his things and refused to budge until he got his knife back. Looking at the blade, Lucien frowned. It was still bloody, and the blood had dried on the blade. What kind of people didn't ake care of a knife?! He could spemd an hour a day just polishing it until it shone, the only thing he wouldn't get bored of. It would take him ages to get this off... and he looked forwards to it. He missed his knife, more than he'd ever miss a person. It was the cloesest thing to love that Lucien knew.

Walking outside, he took a deep breathe of air. His first free breathesince he had been sixteen. I*t felt good to be free, to finally be outside without been told he would have to go back in. And even better, he was getting out of here.. not just the prison, but the country - the continent! New York waited for him, and Lucien didn't want to make it wait long.

"So, now those pesky guards are out of the way, you can tell me why you got me out. Though I'm quite glad you did... those guards were awful to me in there. It wasn't enough that I've had to live with the guilt of what I'd done when I'd gone crazy... they had to torment me, bully me, beat me..." Lucien said, putting on as apologetic a look as he could. "I still can't belive that... that I killed my own parents..."

He suppresed a sob, acting as sad and as guilty as he could. And when Lucien played a part, hhe played it well. He almost did regret killing his parents, almost felt guilty for all the things he'd done. All those people he'd killed, all the things he'd stolen from the still warm corpses, all the drugs he'd taken. Almost, but not quite.

"Thank you. Thank you so much for getting me out of there." He said, wiping the tears from his eyes.

Ah, freedom was going to be fun!

Charlie waited patiently for Lucian to collect his few things, and she was quick to notice the look he had given his knife. It had only been for a brief second, but she saw it non the less, it was the same flicker of excitement that she had seen when he learned he was leaving this place, and it only aided in Charlie's skepticism. She watched him with a keen eye but said nothing. The walked outside and were greeted by a cool rush of winter wind, exhilarating in the least, and she took a moment to breathe it in. The outdoors were always invigorating for her. The outdoors had always been her escape, and it was where most of her memories took place, and sometimes she thought it helped her remember her parent's faces better, but in an instant her mind was back to where it was supposed to be.

"So, now those pesky guards are out of the way, you can tell me why you got me out. Though I'm quite glad you did... those guards were awful to me in there. It wasn't enough that I've had to live with the guilt of what I'd done when I'd gone crazy... they had to torment me, bully me, beat me...I still can't believe that... that I killed my own parents..." her little convict had trembled, and her heart almost fell for it to. The light side of Charlie him to be sorry and that he could come home with her and he could change and there would be one less danger to the world, but the dark side of Charlie could tell this wasn't going to end well.

He looked very convincing, like he meant every word. But she too had a dark past of killing her parents, many mutants had, but he looked too clever to get caught for an accident like that. But she guessed she could play along, if that’s how he wanted to do it.

"Thank you. Thank you so much for getting me out of there." She met his eyes

"You are not alone in this world, but you may already know that. New York is home to Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, and they want you to come and attend their school. Full ride, nothing to pay, and you can stay as long as you want. Plus we got you out of jail. Take from that what you will." she smirked in a Charlie-esque fashion.

"You are not alone in this world, but you may already know that. New York is home to Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, and they want you to come and attend their school. Full ride, nothing to pay, and you can stay as long as you want. Plus we got you out of jail. Take from that what you will." Charlotte said to him. Lucien's eyes widened as she said this. Xavier? That was the man who had taught him how to use his powers! He'd invited Lucien to the school back before he was put in jail and Lucien had told him where to go.

If he had any feelings, he would have felt quite bad for that. As it was, the oppurtunity had presented itself again and this time, he wasn't going to turn it away. He'd been too long without social interaction, and he wanted to be among others like him. Just to steal their powers, of course. Friends were soemthing Lucien didn't understand, something he could easily live without.

"Yes, I know that already. I met the Professor once - it was he who taught me about my ability. I'm immortal, you see. Can't die, so I'd have been stuck in that prison for the whole eight life sentences and then let back out. I turned down the oppurtunity to go to the school before. I was quite rude about it as well, which I regret. However, I think that yes, I will go. It's about time I met others like me, and just maybe, I can show I've changed. Once again, thank you for getting me out of there. And.. if it's not too rude to ask, what's your ability? If the school is fir mutants only, and you go there, that must mean you're a mutant yourself?"

Lucien was genuinly curious about the girl's ability. Mainly because he wanted to know if it was worth stealing, but also because heaqs a nosy person. He didn't care about anything unless it benefitted himself, and this potentially could.
